Workshop Information and Cancellation Policies

Workshop Supplies

Workshop supply lists are emailed once the workshop is confirmed to run, usually 90 days before the workshop begins.

Workshop Housing

There are a number of inexpensive chain hotels near our studio along Route 1 in Danvers, MA including the Marriott Residence Inn and the Hilton Doubletree. If you are looking for a more memorable experience, we suggest Shea's Riverside Motel in Essex, about a 15-20 minute drive to the studio. It is right on the Essex River and you will feel like you are on a special New England vacation! It is within easy walking distance of five restaurants and across the street from Woodman’s, the home of the friend clam! Receive $10 off per night if you reserve by calling 978-768-6800 and mention Slow River Studio.

Please reach out if you have any additional questions. We would be happy to help you plan your visit to Slow River Studio.

Workshop Cancellation Policy

We want you to love our workshops and encourage you to register early to guarantee a spot. We also understand that life happens and sometimes students need to cancel.  To protect your registration fee, we strongly suggest that you purchase trip insurance through a private insurer.

To provide students with a lower workshop cost, travel plans for artists are made three months (90 days) in advance.  At that time, we all commit to holding the workshop based on current enrollment.  If you cancel 90 days before the start of your workshop, you will receive a refund, minus a $50 processing fee.  If you cancel less than 90 days before the start of your workshop, you will receive a refund only if we can fill your seat with another student from the waiting list, minus the $50 processing fee.  Students who start a multiple-day workshop and are unable to attend any portion will not receive a refund.

We hope you understand this policy is intended to protect all of our interests.

Studio Cancelation Procedures

All outdoor and plein-air workshops are held rain or shine. If the weather is inhospitable to artists, we meet indoors at our studio and the curriculum will be adjusted. In general, we go outside if it is not raining and temperatures are between 40 and 85 degrees. In the case of a local or statewide emergency, Slow River will close and workshops will be rescheduled or refunded, depending on the nature of the emergency. We will do our best to make all closure decisions the night before the class or workshop.
